Danaher Corporation Vice President of Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) in Westborough, Massachusetts

Leading the global Scientific Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) function for the Scientific and Lab Services (SLS) team, the Vice President of Global MSAT is responsible for ensuring strong collaboration with our customers to accelerate bringing new drugs to market, improve process robustness through process optimization, scale up, troubleshooting, and other consulting services, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders to drive business growth and market share. T his position will also advise on the impact of changing customer needs. The role will provide leadership, management, and coaching to a scientific organization to ensure workforce effectiveness and support of the overall operations of the business.

Accountabilities

  • Leads the team that provides technical support and consultancy for upstream and downstream operations at biopharma customers.

  • Through critical insight on customer, formulate strategies to develop and support solutions that meet or exceed customers’ needs and expectations and simultaneously expand Biotech’s business by gaining market share

  • Develop and implement a strategy for internal and external partnerships as needed.

  • Partner with other functions including Marketing, Sales, and R&D to assess strategic opportunities aligned to market trends and customer needs.

  • Continually monitor technological changes, market trend sand competitors to identify services and solutions to be developed and delivered to the marketplace.

  • Identify and implement standard methodologies and functional excellence.

  • Ensure the team has a strong presence in the biopharmaceutical industry through white papers, poster presentations, conferences, trade shows and other key events where there is interaction with customers and Key Opinion Leaders.

  • Responsible for talent management to ensure the continued development for subordinates. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, interpersonal assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals.

  • Build positive relationship with team members. Understand what they value and support them in achieving their development goals. Mentor the team to improve their network and identify exciting / stretch roles or projects to support career progression.

  • Understand the performance and development planning process. Track performance progress against objectives, managing gaps with appropriate action plans.

  • Up to 75% travel.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science or Engineering field. PhD preferred.

  • Strong background in biopharma, 10-15 years at a biopharma or related company.

  • Expertise in Manufacturing Sciences and Technology

  • Capable of translating customer needs to product requirements.

  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
