Global Internal Communications & Employer Branding Lead (m/w/d)

In this highly attractive role you will design, plan and execute our global internal communications program and develop a consistent tone and voice. It will be in your responsibility to support employer branding as well as global change projects and generally act as an “internal Journalist” to convey news worth sharing. This position is located either in Wetzlar (headquarter) or Mannheim and also available in part-time (mind. 80%). You will have exposure to our Top-Level Management and also be part of our HR leadership team, reporting directly into the VP Human Resources.


  • You will analyze the effectiveness of existing internal communication channels and remain informed of best practices in the profession

  • The continuously improvement of our strategy, communications tools and programs will also be your responsibility

  • You design a creative communication strategy and annual delivery plan for engaging employee communications

  • You create a framework for repeatable processes/guidelines that can be implemented locally in various regions

  • You manage the company’s global intranet, providing technical oversight, community management, editorial calendar/content creation, reporting and analytics, ongoing enhancements and long-term strategy with a view to optimizing the employee experience

  • You lead the strategic thinking, design, development and promotion of the Leica Microsystems global intranet by determining the most effective ways to leverage intranet and social media tools

  • You propose, plan, design, write and create content for executive communication through appropriate channels and manage Leica Microsystems quarterly associate assemblies.

  • You will produce high-impact, high-value messages that support our employee’s ability to do their work and grow the business.

  • You generate and utilize analytics to execute and refine programs for maximum return on investment and track key performance metrics

  • You manage the global internal communication budget


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, Journalism or related field

  • Multiple years of internal communications experience building enterprise-wide programs for global corporate organizations

  • Exceptional writing/editing experience, ability to connect ideas with macro-level priorities

  • Prior experience with following systems would be a plus: Cartella, web analytics programs, Eloqua, video and audio editing, WebEx and webcasting, design software, PPT

  • Demonstrated ability to take complex ideas and translate them into key messages and creative executions

  • Strong project planning and management skills with solid understanding of change management

  • Exceptional networking skills with the ability to influence peers and stakeholders

  • Journalist/blogger mentality with high affinity to social media

  • Fluent English and German skills

  • Flexible, proactive and service oriented team player

  • Multitasking and problem-solving skills
