Description

Purpose of the Position This position is responsible for general management of Videojet’s $400MM continuous ink jet (CIJ) global product line within a matrix organization. In direct coordination with Product Planning, Sales, Marketing, Service, Operations, Procurement, R&D, and regions, this individual will ensure quality, profitability, growth and strategic leadership of the assigned product line on a global basis.

Scope This role has global P&L responsibility for the success of the overall CIJ franchise business which includes both the equipment as well as IB (supply, parts, and service). Success is defined by market share gain, revenue and profitability growth on a global basis.

*Key Responsibilities – lead the team to * •Product line core growth •Product leadership- work with Product Planning, Regional Product Mgmt. and Marketing teams to ensure superior market analysis, customer needs-based segmentation, VOC, deep competitive analysis and insight, value mapping, and product development to offer a comprehensive, materially differentiated product portfolio. Bet on the right technology innovations to invest in order to sustain superior product portfolio. Perform product/feature trade-offs as needed to optimize return on investment in product line. •Product positioning and value selling- work with Regional Product Mgmt., Marketing, and Sales to drive the success of new product launches, ensuring revenue achievement per TG2 screen - volume growth, share gain, and profitability improvement. •Commercial support- work with Regional Presidents, Service, Technical Support, Training, Regional Product Managers to ensure the product line is optimally supported (e.g., resourced to win and high ROI) and results in the highest possible level of product line penetration and share gain. Help to develop product training material and deliver training to regions on new products and existing portfolio. •Maintenance of line – lead activities to address bugs, updates, upgrades and enhancements, in coordination with Product Planning and Marketing. Provide business guidance and oversight to proposed engineering change orders (ECOs) and special application requests (SARs).
•Line change/end of life management – project management of product line obsolescence, to include: developing action plans and managing to timelines; ensuring supply & share position maintenance through transition; supply chain and inventory management/disposition and; support of marketing for communication strategies and execution. •PID coordination- Lead product line coordination between Videojet and Linx to ensure optimal share and profitability of overall Danaher Product ID group.

Product line profitability •Price management – partner with the Pricing team to monitor price performance by product and by region and implement necessary pricing actions. Ensure regions know how to value sell against competition. •Cost management - Lead value add/value engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve product line viability and profitability. Work with Ops/Procurement to develop and deliver PPV. •Installed base management and optimization … retention - ensure organization and processes are in place to deliver the highest possible installed base retention. Lead cross-functional efforts to successfully countermeasure retention threats to our installed base.

Product line quality and delivery •Quality – Work with Operations, Quality, Procurement and Service organizations to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. Provide business leadership to drive execution of action plans, root cause determination and countermeasures to ensure optimal out of box (OOB) quality. •Delivery – work with Operations, Procurement and Sales organizations to ensure customers receive what they want, when they want it. Provide business leadership to drive execution of action plans, root cause determination and countermeasure development to ensure the highest possible level of on-time delivery. •Strategic technology partnerships – Provide business and negotiation leadership, creation of optimal partnership structure, intellectual property security and senior-level relationship development to strategic partnerships (e.g., HP in TIJ; Xaar in piezo DOD). •Strategic sourcing partnerships- Provide business and (in coordination with Procurement) negotiation leadership, creation of optimal partnership structure, intellectual property security and senior-level relationship development to strategic partnerships (e.g., Armor in TTO ribbon). •Supply chain security – In coordination with Operations, Supply Chain and Procurement, provide business leadership to ensure no customer service disruption due to issues such as vendor insolvency, part/component obsolescence.


Product Management standard work/playbook* •Help to create Product Management standard work/playbook with detailed chapters which can become the way of work. Champions DBS throughout overall product line activities.

Key Success Metrics •Core growth – Organic growth above market & key competitors (>5%). Work cross functionally via influence and business leadership to ensure share gain in core markets as well as leadership in emerging markets, high growth verticals and new/novel applications. •Margin expansion – Price and cost management which delivers annual gross margin growth. Work cross functionally via influence and business leadership to drive optimal price/value capture by key segment and deliver results through impactful PPV and VAVE initiatives. •Quality & Delivery – Year-over-year improvement in out of box quality and delivery as experienced by our end user customer.

Relationships •Reports to: Vice President, Business Planning and Product Management •Direct reports: CIJ Product Specialist and Supply Prod Manager.

Experiences/Attributes •Work Experience – a minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in a commercial environment, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in a product or marketing management role. Prior experience in managing a department budget (a minimum of $2M)

Education •Bachelors (ideally in a technical or engineering discipline) and Masters in Business (ideally with a concentration in general management).
