The Product Manager - Supplies is responsible for crafting “vision of the future" for Videojet Supplies and integrating that vision into the overall Videojet corporate strategy. This role will define market segments, identify unmet market needs and resulting product opportunities. The Product Manager will work with the regional partners and engineering teams to build a 5-year roadmap to achieve the company’s forecasted incremental revenue targets and aggressively wins share in the marking and coding market. The Product Manager collaborates with the Business Unit Manager and Project Manager to lead engineering project teams through the execution of projects on this roadmap.

What defines success in the role?

  • Be able to capture qualitative and quantitative market research from all relevant personas in the printer purchasing decision, eliciting their unmet needs

  • Utilize market data to develop proactive strategies to maintain company competitiveness and drive breakthrough innovation in the company

  • Tell the customers’ stories and strategic implications to the Senior Leadership Team to drive Videojet product and corporate strategy and resourcing decisions

  • Achieve results through indirect influence, ensuring all functional groups understand the link between their department’s work, the customer needs, and the product roadmap

  • Work collaboratively with project core team members throughout the development process as product requirements are refined to properly balance the needs of the customer and product time to market

  • Gain approval for the roadmap from the Videojet's Senior leadership team which includes the President, regional VP/GMs, and other functional leaders

Key responsibilities as a Product Manager:

  • Define long term strategy for product lines based on deep and up-to-date understanding of the market segmentation, implicit and explicit needs of customers, and shifts in the competitive landscape

  • Lead the discovery of adjacent and ground-breaking innovation opportunities by identifying the customers’ biggest problems running their businesses and tying that back to opportunities for Videojet

  • Build and be responsible for the Product and Technology Roadmap for assigned product lines

  • Drive creation of price/performance charts and derive pricing models based on competitive product evaluations

  • Creation of the "Market Requirements Documents" (MRD), which reflect complete, accurate, and true understanding of the marking and coding market and its needs

  • Lead continuous customer validation throughout the technology and product development process to ensure that the product being developed will deliver a compelling value proposition to the customer

The candidate will visibly embody the following traits:

  • Multicultural awareness allowing them to work well with customers and associates throughout the world

  • Works effectively in matrixed organizations, showing the right balance between conviction of key ideas he/she wants to foster and sufficient flexibility to adapt to change and redirect resources optimally and appropriately.

  • Strong analytical skills including experience with Conjoint and Max Diff studies as well as statistical analysis to test and support (or refute) business strategies

Requirements for the position

  • Education - Bachelor’s degree required (Chemical Engineering Degree preferred)

  • Work experience - 5+ years in industrial product management, product planning, new product development, and/or corporate strategy/consulting. Industrial application experience is required; packaging industry experience is desirable.

  • Special qualifications - Extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative VOC, identifying needs for technical products in a B2B market

  • Level of travel required. Moderate (25-40%) across the globe

  • Experience with and market knowledge of Inks.

  • Knowledge and experience in global chemical control laws

  • Practical experience in global hazard communication and transportation classification within the chemical industry related to SDSs and labeling
